2nd Trimester
Today marks 28 weeks and we are officially in the 3rd trimester! In three short months we are going to have a baby and we are so excited. Dan and I go in spurts of wanting the baby to be here already, but then also being really thankful for the time we get together to prepare and plan for our growing family.
Second trimester was better than the first because I finally gained more energy and didn't feel sick all the time. Feeling more like myself made all the changes happening to my body a little more manageable and less overwhelming. Second trimester brought on the bump and random urges from strangers to touch my stomach. I felt the first kicks on November 20 and starting that day, I decided that I just really love being pregnant. Before I felt movement, I was obviously excited and knew there was a little life in there..but wow, when you feel that little flutter that you can't even begin to describe, it's truly amazing. Now that baby is much stronger and over two pounds, there is movement all the time! I could lay in bed just looking at my tummy move and be completely content for hours.
Thanksgiving and Christmas happened during the second trimester and that was such a blessing to be feeling well for travel. It was also great timing to get to see so much family while starting to show and feeling kicks. There were many attempts to feed me something sweet so the baby would start kicking and family could feel! It makes Dan and I so happy to see the love and excitement already surrounding our child.
Another highlight of second trimester was our Babymoon getaway to Oklahoma City! Dan and I wanted to make it a priority to get away for a little weekend trip before he started his semester of classes and spend some intentional time together before baby. We stayed in a cute AirBnB, ate at fun restaurants, bought my first pair of maternity jeans, found my dream coffee shop filled with plants and thought a lot about how thankful we are for the blessing of a growing family. My love for Dan grows every day, especially as I watch him prepare to be a dad and experience how he already loves and protects our baby. I am so thankful for his heart and all the ways he shows me love.
My stomach is big enough to use as a drink holder. The nursery is getting there. Our registry is finally done. And we decided on a girl name and boy name (but no one gets to know)! Bring it on third trimester..we are ready!
